Holden Motors, the Norwich-based Volvo dealership, went quackers for student Eleanor Ward's duck design which it will race in the Grand Norwich Duck Race in aid of children's charity Break on Sunday, August 27.

Her 'Dapper Duck' design was chosen from 35 entries to the Holden Motors competition to design its giant duck, which it will race in the corporate duck race, as part of the local fund-raising event. The competition was promoted via local schools and Holden Motors's social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

Sales manager Michael Duale said: 'We wanted something quirky and fun so our duck would really stand out in the race. We loved Eleanor's 'Dapper Duck' smart, but fun, design. He looks like a cheeky chappy and we think he will be very eye-catching on the water.'

The sixth annual Grand Norwich Duck Race starts from St George's Bridge, near Norwich Playhouse, with ducks racing to Fye Bridge. The fun starts at midday with the individual duck race at 2pm followed by the corporate duck race at 2.30pm when the Grand Norwich Duck Race trophy will be at stake.

For Holden Motors, the race forms part of a summer of activity which sees the dealership out and about in the community taking part in a number of events where vehicles from across the Volvo range, including the new XC60, will be on display at All About Dogs show at the Norfolk Showground at Costessey, near Norwich, on Sunday, August 27 and bank holiday Monday, August 28 and Aylsham Show on the bank holiday Monday.
