Marriott Motor Group hosted a local qualifying event for the Audi quattro Cup golf tournament which saw Steve Marsh, of King's Lynn, qualify for the UK regional final at Woburn Golf Club, near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

Although Mr Marsh missed out on progressing from his regional final to the UK final by two points, he scored a rare and treasured hole in one at the par three sixth hole on the Duke's Course at Woburn Golf Club.

Mr Marsh had had narrowly won the Marriott Motor Audi Group Invitational at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club with a score of 37 points in the Stableford rules matches over 18 holes. The one-day competition was supported by the group's Audi dealerships at King's Lynn, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich and was one of more than 40 invitational events in the UK.

Altogether eight regional finals were then held with the top 18 pairs going forward in to the UK final which is being held at Bowood Golf and Country Club near Calne, Wiltshire, next month. Two winning pairs from that event will go on to represent Britain competing in the Audi quattro Cup world final at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai in December.

The Audi quattro Cup, being staged for the 24th year, is the world's largest amateur golf competition with almost 90,000 players from 53 countries competing for a place in the week-long world final.
