Gas connection work that was due to close off a stretch of main road in south Lowestoft from Monday has been postponed until next month.
National Grid was due to close of part of London Road South between Cliff Road and Lorne Park Road from Monday for up to six evenings.
However after discussions with Suffolk County Council National Grid has agreed to postpone the connections work until Monday, July 7.
The section of road will be closed for four evenings between 6pm and 11pm so the company can carry out work to provide gas supplies to two flats.
Andrew Stone, National Grid operations interface manager, said: “We always make every effort to minimise any disruption our work may cause and to complete it as quickly as possible.
“We agreed with the county council that the road closures take place during evenings to reduce inconvenience to local people.
“A diversion route should be in place for motorists and access will be maintained for pedestrians.”
Last September another set of works by Anglian Water saw a stretch of the road closed for several weeks for sewer repairs.
