Drivers have been warned that the A11 has been closed between Thetford and Barton Mills after a three-vehicle crash.

The Highways Agency said the road was closed in both directions and is not expected to re-open until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

The crash happened at Elveden just after 5.45pm, with a fire crew from Thetford helping their Suffolk counterparts from Brandon and Mildenhall.

Firefighters freed a casualty from their vehicle, who was then treated by paramedics.

That stretch of the A11 is the last single carriageway section of the road, and preparatory work has begun on a £134m scheme to dual it.

Earlier this month, on Sunday, October 7, four people were taken to hospital after a crash at the Elveden crossroads on the same stretch of the A11.
