Norfolk Mitsubishi dealer Constitution Motors has moved to a dedicated showroom and workshop in a prime Norwich location to coincide with the launch of the new Eclipse Cross SUV.
Constitution Motors has moved its Mitsubishi franchise to a modern showroom on Norwich ring road.
The Norfolk Mitsubishi dealership, offering new and used sales and servicing, has moved into the former Vauxhall site in Mile Cross Lane with a modern four-car showroom and workshop with five bays including one for MOT testing.
Managing director Ian Coates said: “When we took Mitsubishi on three years ago the agreement was that it wanted a dedicated showroom after five years but we have had to move in three years because our growth has been so quick.
“The decision was made to come here because it became free, it was the right time and we were bursting at the seams at Constitution Hill. This is a modern, green facility that really suits the Mitsubishi brand.”
The prime location on the ring road will also bring the Mitsubishi brand to the attention of more passing motorists.
“This move will really help put Mitsubishi on the map in Norwich,” he said.
Constitution Motors’s Mitsubishi team moved to the new site last week but Mr Coates is now looking to expand the sales and servicing teams.
The old Constitution Hill showroom was shared with Subaru so had room for only three Mitsubishi models and there was space for only 15 vehicles outside – the new Mile Cross Lane site can display four inside and up to 30 outside.
The Mitsubishi relocation comes at a great time for Constitution Motors and the automotive brand as it officially launches its new Eclipse Cross sport utility vehicle, first of a new generation of models, on February 1 and the new Shogun Sport SUV in March.
A grand opening of the new dealership for invited VIP guests will tie in with the Eclipse Cross launch the first week of February.
Constitution Motors’s Woodcock Road site has temporarily closed so it can be refurbished and will open as the new base for its Subaru franchise by the beginning of next month. A decision has yet to be made about the future of the Constitution Hill site, from which the business took its name, having moved there in the 1970s.
“We are keeping the Constitution Motors name. It would have been easier to become Mitsubishi Norwich but Constitution Motors is an important and well-known brand in Norfolk, a family business with loyal customers and staff. The business is more about the family and staff than its location.”
