Motorists are being warned that Costessey Lane has been closed off after a parapet was struck and collapsed at Costessey Mill Old Sluice this morning.
Traffic is being diverted via The Street, Town House Road, West End, Taverham Lane, Sandy Lane, Fakenham Road and back on to Costessey Lane.
The road is expected to be closed for at least two weeks as repair work can only begin once water levels in the River Wensum have subsided.
The repair work will take a week once water levels have dropped.
