A thief stole a tray of engagement rings worth £25,000 from a Diss jewellers and got away on a mountain bike, a court heard.
Phillip Ellis, 37, from Birmingham, stole the rings from the Jewellery Workshop on Market Place, Diss, on September 9, last year, and fled from the store riding away on a mountain bike in the direction of Mere Street.
Ellis had admitted the theft of the rings at an earlier hearing and was due to stand trial at Norwich Crown Court on another charge of dangerous driving when he changed his plea and admitted dangerous driving on June 11, 2016 in Gainsborough Avenue, Diss.
Prosecutor Oliver Haswell said the plea was acceptable to the Crown and said the value of the rings taken from the Diss shop was £25,000
Judge Anthony Bate adjourned the case for reports and Ellis was bailed to appear on July 13. for sentence.
However he warned Ellis all sentencing options would be open.
