The Redeemed Christian Church of God, based at the Dussindale Centre, is teaming up with churches across the world in the bid to set a record for the most Christmas carol singers singing at once.

The record was set last year when 18,114 singers performed five classic carols.

The attempt starts at 7pm on Sunday and will be broadcast on Premier Christian Radio.

Thorpe St Andrew mayor John Ward will open the proceedings at the church in Pound Lane.

Chioma Onyeme, pastor-in-charge at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, said: “We are inviting everyone from our local community to join us in the carol singing record attempt.”
