SIR - Having read your article (WHT February 13) I would like to submit my thoughts for the Shredded Wheat site.

However before that I would just like to say that it is very sad to hear of the site closure as 99 per cent of my family have worked for Cereal Partners or Shredded Wheat as we knew it!

My brother still works there after 26 years. We all have fond memories of the company and wish all who work there very good luck with future careers.

I believe that our town is in desperate need of leisure facilities, ie, dance halls, theatres etc. There is nowhere for any age group to go for a good dance night out, there is a lack of cultural entertainment such as theatres and since our Stanborough Lakes swimming pool has been shut, nowhere for youngsters to go in the summer holidays.

Further ideas could be: an ice rink, bowling, skateboarding area, go karting and an all-year open outside basketball pitch for youngsters to go to whenever they like.

In places such as New York these basketball areas are vast and in great positive use, we need to encourage our young people to socialise and become integrated into society properly instead of hibernating in their bedrooms in front of PCs.
