Excited children in Earlham got the chance to put in their Christmas list orders with the man himself yesterday when Santa Claus dropped in for a flying visit.
Christmas fun day at West Earlham community centre. Roxanne Armes-Elliot, five, meets Santa.
Photo: Bill SmithEven for those a little too old for a trip into Santa’s grotto, there was seasonal entertainment on offer with the Marlpit Community Choir boosting the Christmas spirit with some enthusiastic carol-singing and a prize draw for children and adults to win decorations and hampers of festive goodies.
Face painters turned angelic children into tigers, princesses and even a terrifying Shrek.
Other fun included make-your-own decoration craft sessions, Christmas games and other festive activities.
The event at West Earlham Community Centre was the fourth such day around the city organised by Norwich City Council housing officers, in partnership with council contractors, housing, tenant and community groups.
Clematis armandii is a great favourite of mine but, it has its drawbacks. First of all, it is not the hardiest member of its tribe, and being evergreen, once its foliage becomes frost damaged this becomes a permanent feature.

Well that is a very narrow minded comment. Please open your mind and read the above comment.

I am very annoyed that this article that shows children and their families having fun at a local event is being translated that West Earlham is an un-educated area. I would like to point out that those children shown in the pictures come from the Local Infant School where they have just learnt and put on a production about Christianity from around the world including the countries, Great Britain, Poland, China, Australia, Malawi and the USA. They can enthusiastically tell you how each country celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus. They are also educated on other religions before any one comments to say it is just a Christian school. I am sick and tired of West Earlham being portrayed as an un-educated deprived area. I am and always will be a proud community member of this estate.
