Lets mark the 65th and 60th anniversary of Britain's atom and nuclear tests.
On October 3, 1952 Britain tested its first atom bomb inside HMS Plym, the ship vapourised.
After several attempts in Australia, operations were moved to the Malden Island but still not big enough to be called a nuclear bomb.
Tests were carried out throughout the year until November 8, 1957 when Operation Grapple X 1.8 megaton was a true nuclear bomb.
Some 24,000 men were used for the tests from 1952-1958, at least that was the given figure.
The British Nuclear Test Veterans Association of Norwich and Norfolk would like to see as many as can make it, please ring me on 01603 432090 in good time to get something organised.
