Passengers can expect delays and cancellations on the Norwich to London line, due to ongoing signalling problems between Ipswich and Manningtree.

Train operator Greater Anglia has said that although lines are open, trains will have to run at a reduced speed between these stations.

A statement from Greater Anglia said: “In order to manage a reduced line capacity, trains to and from Ipswich and Norwich may be cancelled and some services may be terminated short of destination, or revised at short notice. Train services running between Manningtree and Ipswich are being delayed by approximately 15 minutes for each train.”

The company said customers holding advance tickets could travel on alternative train services if their scheduled train was cancelled.

“Route improvement work is taking place today, at a number of locations across the Abellio Greater Anglia Network and customers should check the planned alterations section of our website, before you commence your journey,” the company statement said.

“Network Rail engineers are working as fast as possible to fix the problem, but disruption may continue throughout the day.”

  • Gosh, trouble on the railway line between Norwich and London. That's real news. Oh no, that's right it isn't. You need to report on a week where there was no delays. Guinness Book of Records stuff that would be.
