An animated film which tries to explain what life is like for Norfolk children in care has been launched.

The film, which is aimed at children under seven, aims to take away some of the fear younger children can experience when they first come into care and help them to understand what is happening to them.

Norfolk’s In Care Council commissioned the DVD, on behalf of Norfolk County Council, as part of its work to ensure that the county’s looked after children were clear about their rights.

Entitled The Promise, the five minute film looks at the relationship between the child and their social worker, using a rabbit to play the child and an elephant to represent the social worker.

It is believed to be the first film of its kind in the country. The council hopes to market it to other local authorities to use with their looked after children.
