You should never run with knives, but you should definitely Walk With A Fork at a brand new charity event that combines fundraising with a food safari.

On Sunday October 6, Sennowe Park in Guist near Dereham will be throwing open its gates to welcome walkers for a food-based event which will raise much-needed funds for the Ormiston Children and Families Trust which works with children and young people across the east of England.

Local chefs including Richard Hughes, Chris Coubrough and Eric Snaith will join forces with local producers to provide a range of ‘food stops’ to fuel walkers as they
make their way around an eight-mile trail.

Others taking part include Crush Foods, Algie’s Popcorn, Back to the Garden, Aspalls, Alfie’s Fresh Produce, Arthur Howell and Norfocopia. The event takes part on the last day of the EDP Adnams Norfolk Food and Drink Festival, of which both Chris and Richard are patrons.

“Norfolk has some of the finest local ingredients around and a burgeoning food culture which is going from strength to strength,” said Eric, head chef at Titchwell Manor, which recently scooped Restaurant of the Year in the EDP Norfolk Food and Drink Awards.

Ormiston Children and Families Trust oversees more than 40 projects which help young people in the region, including a number of children’s centres, visiting support services in prisons and parenting support programmes.

Last year, the charity helped more than 130,000 children and families.

If you would like to take part in Walk With a Fork, contact Ormiston’s head of fundraising, Lucy Potter, on 01473 705031 or download an application form from www.ormiston/org/walkwithafork. Walkers pay £10 to register and commit to raise at least £25 in sponsorship money which will go towards the vital work carried out by Ormiston.
