Norwich and Norfolk were well and truly put on the map last night, as television star Alan Partridge gave millions an insight into his fictional home.
The popular comedy creation of Steve Coogan’s made his long-awaited return to TV screens in his new programme, Welcome to the Places of My Life, on Sky Atlantic.
Partridge was seen driving around Norwich before going behind the scenes at City Hall, trying his hand as a trader on Norwich Market and keeping up his regular exercise routine at Riverside Leisure Centre.
The presenter of fictional radio station North Norfolk Digital also drove out through Frettenham and Buxton before taking a stroll around Thetford Forest in an hour-long first episode of the new series.
The new show, a regular return to screens for Partridge after 10 years away, seemed to be a hit with people from Norfolk on micro-blogging website Twitter, with favourite quotes and jokes from the episode soon flying around.
@Theo_Inglis said: “As a Norwich inhabitant for 3 years, and fan of nineties comedy I’m doubley enjoying the new Alan Partridge show.”
@DKnox88 tweeted: “Howling at Alan Partridge tonight. Definitely so much funnier when you actually live in Norfolk. #brilliant”
@MatthewHubbard3 was similarly impressed, saying: “Watching the New Alan Partridge on Sky and he just went through Buxton!! OOHH exciting!!”
@amyloves_afc joked: “Going into the city today and will be doing my own Alan Partridge show.”
While @canarycaz simply said: “Loved Alan Partridge in Norfolk on Sky Atlantic!”
