Some big-name authors are heading to Norwich to launch their latest books. Jarrold has announced authors Philippa Gregory and David Mitchell will be discussing their most recent books at Open in Bank Plain.

Philippa Gregory, most famous for her novel The Other Boleyn Girl, is an established historian as well as a writer.

She will be speaking about her novel The King’s Curse, based on the few surviving members of the Plantagenet dynasty after the Wars of the Roses.

Carole Slaughter, marketing manager at Jarrold, said she was thrilled about the events.

She said: “We are particularly excited about David Mitchell. It was great news he agreed to come to Norwich.”

The launch of Mr Mitchell’s book The Bone Clocks will come two days after it is published.

The book features a teenager named Holly Sykes and her encounter with a strange woman who asks her for asylum.

The author’s third novel, Cloud Atlas, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and was made into a film in 2012.

The launches have been moved to Open to allow for a larger audience.

Mrs Slaughter said: “We are expecting both events to be really popular. We are lucky we have attracted a lot of well-known authors.”

The audience will have the opportunity to get their books signed and have a chat with the authors.

Local authors Ian Hall and Victoria Panton Bacon, who wrote Jaguar Boys and Six Weeks of Blenheim Summer, will launch their books on Jarrold’s book floor in July.

Last week Emma Healey, who studied at UEA, launched her first book Elizabeth is Missing at the store.
