Each piece captures history from around the world form an exhibition at King’s Lynn Arts Centre.

Some of the works by Neil Pittaway, a former course director and lecturer at the College of West Anglia, measure 7ft wide and capture famous architectural sites, cityscapes and historical figures.

Also included are a selection of his First World War paintings.

In another exhibition, Mr Pittaway captured the majestic scenery of Nepal while trekking in the country two weeks before the devastating earthquake hit in April.

He said: “I enjoy travelling and the exhibition is showing the beauty of the landscape and a sense of moment, and time, and place.

“I’ve tried to capture the majestic nature and splendour of the Himalayas in all the pieces.”

The works include a poignant range of photographs, watercolours, sketchbooks and drawings – 10pc of the Nepal sales will be donated to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal set up by the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Both exhibitions, Visualising History and Recalling Nepal, are open until October 31.
