The Mystery of Irma Vep, which begins on Tuesday September 2, is a lively comedy that pokes gentle fun at several theatrical, literary and film genres.

The play stars just two actors, who between them play eight different characters.

The play focuses on the recently married Lady Enid and Lord Edgar Hillcrest, an Egyptologist. As the tale is told it becomes clear their home is still pervaded by the mystery surrounding the death of his first wife, Irma Vep.

Servants at the manor increase the menacing atmosphere as their own dark secrets threaten poor Lady Enid. Then, when a vampire strikes, Lord Edgar’s attempts to find an explanation unwittingly unleash further mayhem.

Debbie Thompson, director of the Little Theatre, said: “We have had a superb summer repertory season this year and The Mystery of Irma Vep will be a wonderful way to bring it to a close.”

It runs until Saturday September 6. For tickets and information call 01263 822347 or visit www.sheringhamlittletheatre.com.
