There will be singing, dancing and jolly japes at Sheringham Little Theatre this Christmas as the annual pantomime returns for the festive season.
This year’s production will be the ever-popular tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. Written and directed by West End star Killian Donnelly, one of the male leads in Phantom of the Opera, the production promises to bring a touch of Christmas cheer for young and old alike.
Theatre director Debbie Thompson said the performance would offer “a selection box of singing, dancing and jolly panto japes”.
She added: “We are so excited to have Killian’s involvement this year. It should be a truly outstanding show.
“We have some wonderful special effects planned, which we are, of course, keeping under wraps, and have signed up a superb cast who will really bring the whole performance to life.”
Stepping back into the spotlight at the Little Theatre will be pantomime dame Russel Hicken. This year he’ll be slipping into his colourful collection of outrageous costumes as Molly Coddle, Jack’s mother.
And joining him on stage will be Cornelius Garret, playing Jack’s father. Cornelius is also returning to the venue, having played the role of the evil Abanazar back in 2010.
“We have some new faces too,” said Debbie. “We are lucky enough to have Jonathan Broderick with us this year, playing Jack, and Rachel Waring, as Jill. Both these young actors have recently graduated from drama school.
“Then we have hilarious double act James Lavender and Benedict Martin, who will be taking on the roles of Ralph and Snotmill.”
This year’s set will be designed once again by Matt Nunn. Ron and Charlotte Sayer are returning to oversee the music and Kate Withers will be back to create the costumes.
Jack and the Beanstalk runs at Sheringham Little Theatre from Wednesday, December 5 to Saturday, January 5. For more information or for tickets call 01263 822347 or visit www.sheringhamlittletheatre.com.
