Residents will be dressing up for the 41st Pulham Market Carnival, which will be held on Saturday, September 8 in the centre of the south Norfolk village.

This year’s theme is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and up to ten floats from local businesses, community groups and organisations are set to take part.

The colourful carnival procession is set to start from 1.30pm and will conclude with a fun day on the village green from 2pm.

The event will be opened by parish council chairman Anne Ford and will include music from the Southwold and Reydon Marching Band and morris dancing.

John Graham, chairman of the organising committee, said the Pulham Market event was traditionally the last carnival of the summer in Norfolk.

“We have 20 stalls hosted by charities and community groups and there will be stilt walkers, face painting and a bucking bronco bouncy castle. The weather has been good the last few years and we get between 500 to 600 visitors to the village,” he said.

The celebrations will also include an annual tug-o-war between the two pubs in the village.

Any profits from the carnival go towards helping local clubs and societies.
