Need something to do this weekend? Here are just some of the events going on around Norfolk this weekend.

For cinema lovers Argo (15) is out now. Directed by Ben Affleck, it is based on the real life events around the 1979 storming of the US Embassy in Tehran. CIA extractor Tony Mendez, played by Ben Affleck poses as a film producer who is in Iran to scout for locations for a new sci-fi film Argo in the attempt to save 6 members of the Embassy who have escaped to the residence of the Canadian ambassador. Argo grantees to hold your attention throughout with its well thought out editing and pacing, making this an edge of the seat film you do not want to miss.

If you need something to cheer you up then The Sapphires (PG) is the film to watch this weekend. This feel-good comedy is based on the 2004 stage play by Tony Briggs about 4 Australian sisters as the find their singing talent when performing for troops in Vietnam. Chris O’Dowd is one of the main highlights with his brilliant comedic acting which takes the form of talent scout Dave, who takes on the task of managing the sisters, giving him some of the best and funniest lines of the film, which will definitely brighten up your day.

For Remembrance Sunday Norfolk is holding many events to remember those who have fought for our freedom. On Sunday St Nicholas Church in Salthouse will be holding a Remembrance concert at 3:30pm, which will feature the music of the Kelling Consort and String Ensemble, and the soprano Chloe Barnett. Ticket cost £8 and are only available on the door. Also at 3pm on Sunday, the Princes Street United Reformed Church in Norwich is holding a Remembrance Concert, featuring the StGregory’s Orchestra and pianist Kevin O’Regan. If you loved the 60s then Glad All Over! A Sixties Celebration will have you swinging along to the classic 60s music. The two hour show will have a mixture of rock, pop and soul music, from the Beatles to the Beach Boys, performed by a cast of singers and musicians who have appeared in 60s inspired shows like Dreamboats and Petticoats, and The Mousetrap. This event starts at 7:30pm on Saturday at the Gorleston Pavilion Theatre. Tickets cost £16, with more information available at:
