Norwich-based football art studio Patterns of Play has teamed up with Norwich City Football Club for the project which sees a new piece of NCFC-inspired artwork revealed on the front page of the matchday programme for each of the home games at Carrow Road this season.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity for Patterns of Play and also all of the artists involved,” said 33-year-old Matt Whitehead, who runs Patterns of Play with his partner Tilly Larrington-Spencer, 23, from their city home near NCFC.

“For each of the home games this season we have selected a different artist and asked them to create their own take on celebrating Norwich City Football Club.

“The artists have come up with all sorts of different designs, either featuring iconic moments from the club or celebrating the club more generally.

“There’s a complete range of artwork and styles which is what Patterns of Play is all about.

“There’s typographic designs, canvas painting, and one artist has even done a collage made out of Panini stickers.”

He said he was delighted with the huge range of art that the project had created so far and said that they were looking forward to revealing a special Patterns of Play front cover for the programme for Norwich City’s FA Cup match with Chelsea this coming Saturday.

On one of the previous matchday programme front covers graphic designer Craig Cutting used Panini stickers to recreate Grant Holt celebrating a goal during Norwich City’s 3-3 draw with Arsenal in 2012.

Other front covers have included a lino print of the club’s manager Daniel Farke by graphic designer Daniel Baird, a line drawing and watercolour of some of the club’s supporters by artist Owen Mathers, and a tribute to the club’s mascot by artist Matthew Brazier.

Patterns of Play first formed in 2014 and since then has developed a network of contributors from over the world and has also hosted several pop-up exhibitions across the UK.

Limited edition prints of each of the artworks created for the Norwich City matchday programmes are also available to buy online from the Patterns of Play website at www.patternsofplay.co.uk
