Variety acts will take to the stage for one night only next month in aid of a volunteer lifeboat service.

The North Walsham Players’ Variety Showcase will be performed on Friday November 14 at the town’s community centre on New Road from 7.30pm.

It will be held over two hours and feature song, dance, comedy and much more.

Director Colin Jeary is appealing for more acts, which can be individuals or groups aged eight or over. No previous stage experience is necessary.

Show proceeds will go towards the Happisburgh RNLI crew.

Acts include North Walsham singer Neville Rowe who performs 1960s hits.

A cast of 16 players’ members, aged between eight and 60 plus, will also perform a medley of musical favourites from Wicked, Grease, Fame and Chicago, songs and sketches.

Mr Jeary, 34, one of the groups’ co-founders 16 years ago, said: “The audience should expect laughter, enjoyment and variety.”

He started the players after leaving North Walsham High School because the amateur actor could not find a group in the town to perform with.

There is no joining fee and the amateur dramatic group puts on two productions a year. It has a chosen charity each year.

Rehearsals for the variety show have started and are held at the community centre every Tuesday between 7.30-9.30pm and Sunday between 2.30-4pm.

Tickets cost £4.50 for adults and £2.50 for children and are available on the door.
