Norfolk’s Ronan Parke made a huge impression when he appeared on BGT in 2011. Now 19-years-old, he’s ready to release a new album of original songs.

Congratulations on your success so far. What made you want to pursue music in the first place?

Thank you so much. I’ve always had such a huge passion for music ever since I can remember. My mum was always playing music around the house and I would always be singing along and knew from a young age it was something I wanted to do.

How has your life changed since Britain’s Got Talent?

My life has changed so much. I’ve been able to travel around the world performing. I’ve met so many amazing people who have inspired me, not only in music but in life in general. However, it’s always nice to come home and be with my family, being in Norfolk at home is the only thing that hasn’t changed and I love that.

How was growing up in Norfolk as someone with ambitions of making music? Do you think it was harder than if you were in London, for example, or do you think the opportunities were still there?

It was great. I really don’t think it matters where you live. I was lucky enough to get a massive opportunity at a young age and as long as you work hard and stay focused and determined, I really don’t think it matters where you live.

Local bands like Sink Ya Teeth and Let’s Eat Grandma have been getting rave reviews in the national press recently. What do you think of the musical talent coming out of Norfolk at the moment?

It’s great to see. We have so much talent in Norfolk so it’s nice to see how much appreciation a lot of the great artists in Norfolk are receiving.

Do you want to play Norwich when your new music is out?

Of course. This is my home town and I have received so much love over the years from Norfolk, so I can’t wait to play a show again here.

What do you want from your musical career in the future?

I try not to have too many expectations, but I would love to just continue performing and making music. It’s what makes me happiest so I will work hard to continue doing that.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Just a huge thank you to everyone in Norfolk who supported me whilst I was on Britain’s Got Talent and still all these years later, it means so much and I truly appreciate it.

Ronan’s first single is due for release in July and has been described as a summer pop/dance anthem.
