A former pupil at what is now Attleborough Academy is returning to the wards of Holby City as a series regular.

The BBC has announced that Nic Jackman will reprise his role as Cameron Dunn, the son of Bernie Wolfe, who returns to the hospital for a year to finish his training as an F2.

Viewers last saw Cameron in Holby at Christmas when he left the hospital with Morven Digby to work in Jamaica and Nic said he is excited to see what is in store for Cameron.

“I am delighted to be returning to the brilliant team at Holby City,” he said. “Cameron is a fun character to play and it’ll be exciting to see what he gets up to next.”

Simon Harper, executive producer of Holby City and Casualty, added: “Nic has already won the audience’s hearts with his previous guest appearances as cheeky, loveable Cameron so it only seemed right to turn him into a fully-fledged regular.

“He’s an absolutely fantastic young actor and new star. Cameron has never settled down and has got by on his charm - he needs the strong women of Holby to lick him into shape professionally and otherwise and bring him out of the shadow of his mum Bernie.”

After attending school in Attleborough from Year 7 until he completed sixth form in 2010, Mr Jackman trained at the world-renowned London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Lamda), completing an honours degree in acting.

Mr Jackman has also appeared in the Arnold Wesker drama Roots, as well as the stage show Red Velvet, which had a run in London before being transferred to New York.

The BBC also announced the return of Camilla Arfwedson as Zosia March and the addition of Dawn Steele to the cast as new General Surgeon Ange Godard.
