Master of the Queen’s Music to take part in Norwich event

A special celebration of music will be taking place in Norwich this Thursday.

Norwich School and the Norfolk Composers Group are joining forces to present a Contemporary Music Day with the Master of the Queen’s Music.

Judith Weir, Master of the Queen’s Music, will be interviewed by international composer and pianist Professor Michael Finnissy and this will be followed by a concert featuring music by Weir, Ives, Toovey and Finnissy, as well as pieces from members of Norfolk Composers Group, and the prizewinning pieces from a composition competition from Norwich School’s Making Musicians Days.

The concert will be performed by three members of London-based IXION Ensemble, local singer Jayne May-Sysum, pianist David Morgan and Professor Finnissy.

The event will take place Norwich School’s Blake Studio on Thursday, with the interview starting at 5pm and the concert starting at 7pm. Tickets £10 (under 21s free. To book, visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/norwich-school
