Sci-fi fans and children can enjoy two films at the Marina Theatre over the next week, while Shakespeare lovers are in for a treat as well.

The Marina will be showing Dawn of The Planet of The Apes (12A) and To Train Your Dragon 2 (PG) from today until Thursday.

In Dawn of The Planet of The Apes a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of a devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier.

They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is a family friendly film set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on the book by Cressida Cowell.

The action comedy tells the story of Hiccup, a Viking teenager who does not fit in with his tribe’s long-standing tradition of heroic dragon slayers.

Hiccup’s world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon that challenges him and his fellow Vikings to see the world from an entirely different point of view.

On Sunday afternoon at 3pm, there is a screening of Macbeth,

Macbeth is the second of the Shakespeare’s Globe on Screen live screenings performed and broadcast live from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.

When three witches tell Macbeth that he is destined to occupy the throne of Scotland, he and his wife choose to become the instruments of their fate and to kill the first man standing in their path, the virtuous King Duncan.

But to maintain his position, Macbeth must keep on killing – first Banquo, his old comrade-in-arms; then, as the atmosphere of guilt and paranoia thickens, anyone who seems to threaten his tyrant’s crown.
