“You haven’t had Sunday dinner until you’ve spent it with Parquet Courts.

The spiky New York punk quartet filled the BBC Radio 6 Music stage with their indie-punk at tea time and left a full house satisfied.

In the UK after the release of their latest album, Sunbathing Animal, in June, the band’s DIY ethics were on full show with a breathless performance, with enough peaks and troughs to keep everyone interested.

The double salvo of two-minute punk romps Master of My Craft and Borrowed Times was the set’s highlight, both taken from 2012’s Light Up Gold, and put an instant bounce in the heart of the crowd.

There were slower moments too, with tunes that drew unavoidable comparisons to classic US indie outfit, Pavement.

Between songs there was a small amount of patter, with a special mention for Lauren Laverne, who had a run-in with the band at Glastonbury.

A couple of songs later and it was all over, with the band leaving to rapturous applause. They are more than welcome to come again.”
