If you are heading of to the Latitude Festival here are some of the main highlights for Friday.

Obelisk Arena Cat Power - 6.30pm: Alt-folk heroine Chan Marshall – better known as Cat Power – will stop time at Latitude with her unique and unforgettable voice, combining raw intimacy with a gruff confidence that instantly sets her apart. Recently nominated as Best International Female Solo Artist at this year's Brit Awards, she has been performing since the early 1990s but first found critical acclaim with her fourth studio album, Moon Pix, released in 1998.

BBC Radio Six Music Stage Richard Thompson Electric Trio - 6.05pm: The founder of Fairport Convention in the 1960s and one of the godfathers of folk rock, Richard Thompson began working as a solo artist the following decade when he released his first album, Henry The Human Fly. He went on to work with his then-wife Linda for the rest of the 1970s, charting the highs and lows of their relationship in a series of albums. Since then he has released several critically acclaimed solo records and even received an OBE for services to music in 2011.

i Arena CHVRCHES: 5.25pm - Glasgow electro-pop trio Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty recently came fifth in the BBC's Sound of 2013 list. Although all have musical backgrounds and played in various bands, the three started working together in late 2011, gaining considerable attention when they posted their track Lies on the internet last summer. It was later listed as one of NME's Best Tracks of 2012.

The Lake Stage MØ -7.30pm: Danish singer-songwriter Karen Marie Ørsted – aka MØ – lists her influences as including Santigold, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Lykke Li, with her sultry electronica earning her comparisons to Lana Del Rey and Grimes. She first found herself tipped for greatness after posting tracks such as Maiden and Pilgrim online and has since been snapped up by Sony Music.

The Alcove Bipolar Sunshine - 7pm: Manchester-based producer Bipolar Sunshine counts the likes of John Kennedy, John Hillcock and Eddy Temple-Morris amongst his early fans, with Zane Lowe raving about his debut cut Fire.

Comedy Arena Nick Helm and the Helmettes - 12.30pm: Winner of the 2013 Loaded Lafta for Best Newcomer, Nick Helm has quickly become a fast rising star thanks to his powerful and hilarious blend of one-liners, stories, poems and songs. His Edinburgh Festival show Dare To Dream was nominated for a Foster's Best Comedy Show Award.

Cabaret Arena Lady Rizo - 11.30pm: The winner of the inaugural TO&ST Award (the Time Out & Soho Theatre Edinburgh Cabaret Award), New York cabaret superstar, comedienne and chanteuse Lady Rizo is a siren-voiced diva with an alluring line in humour. Revel in the vocals of this Grammy-winning diva as she combines glamour, wit and insane charm.
