Famed for being a one-woman powerhouse, Chrissie Hynde had some surprise help on the Obelisk stage during her early evening set.
Inviting a fan to join the band she quipped: “This is the longest a man has stuck around,” as he danced Iggy Pop style for the whole set. She even ended up giving him a mike to add backing vocals.
The former Pretender played a lot of their songs and a new one. But on a drizzly afternoon forgoed a Black Keys cover as she didn’t want to steal the headliner’s thunder.
Instead opting for The Smiths’ Every Day Is Like Sunday. How apt.
Although troubled with her guitar, the performance sounded fantastic as her unique voice is a what she’s all about really.
The beautiful Stand By You had a huge crowd swaying and singing along which continued throughout hits including Don’t Get Me Wrong and Talk Of The Town.
For a grandmother in her 60s, she oozed the energy of her younger wannabes on her triumphant return to Latitude.
