A record number of vehicles from the golden age of motoring are expected to take part in the North Norfolk Poppy Line Vintage Transport Festival on Sunday.

This year's event has attracted almost entries - beating last year's total of 300.

Organiser Neil Sharpe, from the Midland and Great Northern Railway Society, the railway's supporting charity, said: 'The festival is now firmly in the car buffs' calendar as a day out with a difference. Last year we hosted a record number of cars from the golden age of motoring, and this year we're expecting even more – especially if the rain holds off.'

Vehicles will mostly gather at Holt Station, but will be seen all up and down the line.

The Poppy Line's 86-year-old teak-bodied Quad-Arts train will be in service, and will also run every day that week up to and including Sunday, July 8. The unique four-coach train pioneered the articulated technology used today on Eurostar and TGV trains, and is regarded by the National Railway Museum as one of the most important items of historic rolling stock in the country. It was built to transport the maximum number of commuters from London's suburbs in to Kings Cross station.

Normal railway fares will apply at the Vintage Transport Festival, and for travel on the historic Quad-Arts train. The 35 family rover ticket for two adults and two children (or three adults and one child) includes a 5 voucher to spend on refreshments or gifts. Rover tickets allow hop-on, hop-off travel all day.

Under-fives go free and cycles and dogs travel for 1 each.
