The Fairy Fair at Holt Hall, in its 13th year, will be held on May 25 and 26. It will feature activities and performers including giant stilt walking pixies, storytelling, a pirate pantomime, Rimsky the cycling pianist, a troll in his forest den and the pixie post office.

Youngsters will be able to take part in elf and fairy training, visit the fairy king and queen, as well as learn how to make secret dens and build a fairy house in the woods.

The event is set in 86 acres of gardens, ancient woodlands and lakes and is run by the Fairyland Trust.

Adults can also enjoy themselves at the Good Elf Beer Tent and music will be provided by Penny Less, Ugly Dog Skiffle Band and Murphy’s Lore, among other bands.

A Fairy Meadow Fund has been launched, to buy a piece of unused land and turn it into a wildflower meadow which families can enjoy, and 10pc from every ticket sale will go towards the fund.

Abbie Panks, from the Fairyland Trust, said: “Last year’s Fairy Fair was truly spectacular. This year’s event is shaping up to be as magical as ever, we have a whole host of new activities and entertainment on offer and, as always, everything is underpinned by the magic of nature. The aim is that children and their families will leave hopefully having discovered little bit more about nature and wanting to explore it further.”

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £8.50 for children. Youngsters under three can go for free.
