A Norfolk charity which aims to introduce families to nature through folklore, stories and magical workshops is gearing up for its big Halloween event next month.

The Fairyland Trust flies into Holt Hall on October 25 and 26 for its Real Halloween.

The weekend celebrates all that is magical about the authentic pre-plastic Halloween, and late autumn.

Children can take part in new witch and wizard training workshops, as well as learning to make magic wands and ride broomsticks.

They can also learn about British birds and herbs, make lanterns and enjoy witches’ kitchen, and fairy banquets.

Trust spokesman Abbie Panks said: “The Real Halloween is so different to any other Halloween event on offer.

“We focus on what is enchanting about the season, not anything scary. It’s a great family friendly event experiencing the authentic magic of nature in a beautiful and atmospheric setting.”

Games will also include conker championships, apple bobbing races, sugar beet shot-putt, parsnip skittles, and crown green vegeta-boules.

Each day the event ends with the unique story of the Real Halloween told by in the woods by candle-light followed by a parade of animal lanterns.

Tickets (£10 adults, £8.50 children and under 3’s free) are now on sale via
