On the evening of Saturday, August 12, Park Alive will be taking over Diss Park, with a line-up featuring old favourites from previous years as well as new acts.

Organised by the Diss and District Rotary Club with support from sponsors A W Myhill and Morrisons, last year around 1,000 people attended the free event, which raised similar number for charity.

Returning to the stage at this year's event will be Discord the wellbeing choir, which consists of five community choirs from Diss and the surrounding area.

Under the direction of Michael Dann, around 100 singers will take to the stage at Park Alive to perform a medley of songs from stage and screen, including the international hit The Lion King.

One of the performers and members of Diss and District Rotary Club, Richard Pither, explained how the choir was one of the favourite features of the event.

Speaking more generally, he added: 'We've got a good and varied line. All in all it should be a good night.'

Joining Discord on the line-up will be The Norwich Ukele Society Band - who will be performing a number of sing-along numbers - and The Dave Drain, a country and western band.

Chris Moyse, director of Park Radio, who will be compering the event, said: 'Park Alive - formerly Proms in the Park - as the title suggests had its roots and inspiration in the light classics but has embraced all musical genres in recent years.

'Our contribution will be to keep the show on track and fill the breaks with music and repartee between the acts.

'It's one of our favourite events of the year and an excuse to dress up.'

As in previous years there will be a barbecue and bar at the event, which will be open throughout the evening, as well as a raffle and prize draw.

The music will start from 5.45pm in the park pavilion.

All proceeds raised from the event will go towards the local and international charities the Diss and District Rotary Club supports.
