Bugs, beasts, birds – and fun are promised at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden during the summer holidays with a family wildlife adventure.
There are Wild Wednesdays, Bugsbirdsbeasts Sundays, children’s nature trail and den building every day, Canoe trails on Sundays and Thursdays and boat trips to and tours of St Benet’s Abbey every Saturday.
Bugsbirdsbeasts Sundays run from 11am to 3pm, and cost £2 per child plus garden entry charge: July 30 Butterflies Galore; August 6 The Big Bug Hunt; August 13 There be Dragons; August 20 Bug Bingo; August 27 Fling Critters.
Wild Wednesdays also run 11am to 3pm, and are included in garden entry charge: August 2 Marvellous Molluscs; August 9 Terrific Trees; August 16 Beautiful Bugs; August 23 Fabulous Fungi; August 30 Magnificent Moths.
St Benet’s Abbey boat trip and tours on Saturdays, July 29, August 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2.15pm to 4.30pm. Boat trip from Fairhaven Garden to St Benet’s Abbey, with a 45-minute guided tour of the Abbey. This trip is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the uneven ground at the abbey. Ticket £17.50 adult (£12 Fairhaven member), £11 child (£8 Fairhaven member). Booking advisable. Guided Canoe Trails with Free Spirit Canoe Tours: July 30, Thursday, August 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27 and 31. Canoe trails from 1.30-2.30pm and 3-4pm. Ticket £18 adult, £12.50 child 10-16, £9.50 child 5-9. Includes garden entry. Booking advisable on 01603 270449 or book via www.fairhavengarden.co.uk.

There is wheelchair access throughout the garden, including a Sensory Garden and an accessible boat for trips on the broad from April to October (additional charge). Visitors requiring special facilities are advised to telephone in advance, mobility scooters available.
Dogs are welcome on leads; small charge to cover poop scoop.
