Two theatre companies have joined forces to present a new play by Fressingfield writer Jack Sadleir.
Revenge En Suite, a comedy thriller with a literary twist, is a joint production involving the Open Space and RoughCast theatre companies which both operate in the Norfolk-Suffolk border area.
Mr Sadleir, author of several plays, began writing more than 20 years ago, using the train journey to and from his work with a firm of London solicitors to work on his dramas.
In Revenge En Suite, set in the 1920s, a renowned but frumpy crime writer, Audrey Dobbs, is in love with Lord Basil Bouncy, the aristocratic detective she has created.
But when she is persuaded to develop his relationship with another of her characters – brilliant novelist and amateur sleuth Lydia Tempest – things go horribly wrong and Audrey’s hasty re-writing leads to disaster.
Who killed multi-millionaire Sir Magnus Boothby? Is the pretty Imogen Ponsonby as innocent as she appears and should she trust Mr Murgatroyd, the oily lawyer? And who is actually writing the plot?
The answers are all revealed in Revenge En Suite which is being performed for three nights, October 12 – 14, at St Edmunds Hall, Hoxne.
The first night, which will feature a pre-show reception with wine and canapés, is already sold out. Tickets for October 13 and 14, all priced at £8, are still available and can be booked by telephoning 01379 855101.
