Canadian rock outfit Barenaked Ladies, most known for writing the theme song for 'The Big Bang Theory', and comedian/singer Boothby Graffoe took to the stage at The LCR on Wednesday [April 25] to bring a solid evening of entertainment for all ages.

First up for the evening was Boothby Graffoe, a regular support act for Barenaked Ladies having been touring and collaborating with them since 2004.

As Boothby was set to begin he quickly paused to pose for a few photos, leaving the crowd instantly chuckling as he then went into song about postmen bringing junk mail while still pulling faces for the camera much to the crowds delight.

His set was slick and full of humour that was topical and current. A highlight of the evening was when he was messing with a loop pedal, and complaining to the crowd 'You don't see people laughing at Ed Sheeran when he does it', whilst comically looking impressed with himself after building up the riffs successfully.

During different songs in his set members of the Barenaked Ladies also made an appearance. First up was Kevin Hearn armed with an electric guitar to team with Boothby's acoustic guitar and harmonica, second was Jim Creeggan with his double bass which Boothby soon followed with Barenaked Ladies puns throughout that diehard fans quickly picked up on.

Next up were the Barenaked Ladies who appeared one by one forming a line at the front of the stage. The start of their set was fairly mellow, first kicking things off focussing on the acoustic side of their songs.

They mixed these with old and new with songs such as 'Sunshine' and 'The Township of King' from their latest album 'Fake Nudes' whilst chatting about walking around Norwich and enjoying a breakfast at the Waffle House which was soon turned into a rap by singer Ed Robertson.

Once the acoustic portion of their set was over they briefly departed from the stage as they had one of the smaller drum kits set up at the front of the stage to move onto as Robertson put it 'the more rocking part of the set'.

With that they kicked into 'Brian Wilson' which saw an eruption of movement among the crowd as the pace was soon taken up a level. For me it seemed a strange choice starting off with an acoustic set rather then winding down with one like a majority of live bands tend to opt for. However with the overall set, it was a better option to get those acoustic songs out the way to be able to end on popular songs like 'One Week' and 'If I had $1,000,000'.

The set did have its times where it felt clunky and slightly disorganised in a sense, with more instrument changes then I could count in between each song.

Kevin Hearn made the most changes moving around the stage a lot, going from either being up on a higher stage with his keyboards to back down along the front with a guitar or synths.

If there had only been a couple of changes throughout the setlist, things would have felt smoother removing the need for Robertson to fill the time. Despite his natural charisma and presence on stage making it easy, you still couldn't help but notice it was only done to give Hearn a bit of time to set up.

All in all it was a solid night of music, starting with the more comical side of Boothby Graffoe mixing his surreal songs with great comedic timing, to the Barenaked Ladies that put on a show displaying their best from their latest album to the classics everyone knows and loves especially bringing out the 'Big Bang Theory Theme' that was always going to be a guaranteed hit.
