Firefighters were called following reports of a sinking vessel in Loddon.

The initial 999 call was made at 7.51pm yesterday (September 6) evening, resulting in Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service sending crews from Loddon, Carrow and Sprowston to the scene on the River Chet, situated just off Pyes Mill Road.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also mobilised one vehicle from its Beccles fire station.

With the first vehicle having arrived at 8.08pm, firefighters found that an old cruiser boat was partially submerged.

The East of England Ambulance Service was subsequently called and they sent one rapid response vehicle to the scene.

However, after a thorough search, it was found that no one was on board the vessel and therefore to treatment was required.

Oil pollution in the river was contained and, with the incident having been brought under control by 9.48pm, it was subsequently passed on to the Broads Authority for further investigation.
