So are you a White Rabbit or a Last Minuter?

It was really, really hard for Sharon Griffths not to be smug when her ‘Mr Arrive at Last Minute’ son missed his train...
When it comes to travel, there are White Rabbits and Last Minuters..
My elder son and I are unashamed white rabbits. We get to airports about half a day before check in. Going to the station we allow time for traffic jams, queues, jammed barriers, no parking spaces and broken ticket machines – all of which happen regularly. We always allow for hold-ups because of snow – even in July.
Consequently, we rarely miss trains, boats or planes.
But we’re constantly mocked by my younger son and his father who delight in delaying us as long as possible, for the sheer pleasure of seeing us get twitchy. Brutes.
Then twice last week Younger Son cut it so fine that he missed his train from London. Not only that, he had to fork out serious money – nearly £60 each time - to buy a new ticket as his cheap advance ticket was valid only on the trains he’d missed.
Senior Son and I were genuinely sympathetic. Honest. But we couldn’t help but look unbearably smug.
White Rabbits 1 Last Minuters 0.
