Re those who would sacrifice Norfolk's precious character for spurious short-term gains.
This is an issue which deserves widespread attention.
I moved to this county recently from Essex to take up a teaching post and was horrified to notice certain ugly excesses making rapid inroads right across the county.
Norwich and its outskirts, in particular, stand to lose so much with scatty schemes like the hideous Northern Distributor Road and plans to plonk up to 1,000 houses on the site of the Royal Norwich Golf Club at Hellesdon.
Where on earth are the important voices needed to halt such desecration?
Why do so many Norfolk MPs simply believe all the spin handed out by spoilers and speculators?
When will county councillors stop fighting each other and stick up for the wonderful place they are supposed to represent?
If I, a mere newcomer, can nurse such blatant misgivings, I can only wonder how hardened natives are feeling — and suffering.
