This house offers three extensions, all built in different architectural styles, one being a thatched round clay lump structure.

If you like different architectural styles, this house is an absolute treat. For a start, you have a really attractive thatched main house which dates to 1921 and off this
is an extension created by the former owner in a weatherboard style. And, then you also have a further extension by the current owner which from the exterior looks like a little round house, made of clay lump, and a thatched roof, which sits alongside a modern kitchen extension. The clay lump was used, I believe, to complement the structure of the original house made from pise de terre, literally meaning ‘rammed earth,’ an old style of building involving the use of packed earth, chalk, lime or gravel.

Sitting in 1.3 acres has made these extensions possible as they don’t encroach on the land you have and each inside serves a different purpose, making this house really interesting. So inside, you can appreciate the original arts and crafts features of the 1921 house; the sitting room boasts a beam with the date beautifully carved into it and there’s a substantial wooden door with a chunky latch, typical of the period as well as leaded lattice windows with wrought iron latches.

However, you also have the round extension which has made a super sitting room with the three windows around the curved wall and then the modern kitchen opens into the breakfast area with beautifully fitted wooden units. You also have a family room, study and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs is a super modern bathroom and four good sized bedrooms in total which are nicely decorated and offer good proportions as well as a shower room to the master and there’s also a loft which is very accessible via a little staircase all of its own.

Outside, this plot is beautiful with lots of really mature trees including a super copper beech and a woodland garden at the rear with oak trees, fruit trees and beech trees. Part of the garden backs onto fields and at the front is a large driveway for parking as well as a garage. You can walk into North Walsham and this house is ideal if you work in the area but you can easily commute to the city daily too.
