When is a bungalow not a bungalow? When it’s got stairs and a first floor! This is what the owners of this immaculate extended and modernised home, Barn End, Coltishall, decided to do when they saw the size of the loft space of the bungalow they had bought. They had a beautiful oak staircase made and created the upper floor space into two large double bedrooms and a bathroom. So, although Barn End may look like a single storey property, it really isn’t!

This home is set back from Great Hautbois road at the Coltishall end and just about central to its plot with lots of trees so it is very private and you cannot see it from the road. I can honestly say this house is completely beautiful and there appears to be nothing which needs doing, it really is the house for you if you want to move in and get on with being happy and not spend your weekends and evenings doing trips to Homebase. It’s a house which has a lot of engineered oak; the floors are divine and you enter into a spacious reception hall, off which is the most gorgeous kitchen, some of which was created by the owner himself who is a carpenter. I loved the curved edges to the units which are topped with solid oak and you’ve got an integrated Smeg oven and wine cooler. The kitchen is open plan through to a dining area which enjoys views of the front garden with French doors leading out to the terrace and also downstairs is a good sized utility. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor, both with lovely views of the rear garden, served by a bathroom. Then, off to the right of the entrance hall is a large sitting room with a turreted bay window overlooking the front and two feature bevelled windows overlooking the rear. These feature windows sit either side of an open fireplace. But it doesn’t end there; at the south end of the property is the plush master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and French doors leading to the garden as well as an en suite shower room and walk-in dressing room. You could put in a small kitchen and make it into a self-contained annexe. Upstairs you have the two further bedrooms and bathroom.

Outside, you have electric gates at the foot of the drive and a gravelled drive for parking and a double garage. The west facing front garden is mainly laid to lawn with mature planted beds, laurel hedging, specimen trees, a summer house and a paved terrace, which is accessible from the kitchen, creating a perfect location for casual dining. At the rear are further lawns as well as an apple tree, walnut tree, three sheds and natural woodland.
