The six-storey Grosvenor House building is set to be turned into 29 one-bed flats and 55 two-bed flats after the application by Lunar Office SARL, who own the building, was approved by Norwich City Council.

The plans for the office block include extensions to the side of the building and an additional storey to the rear of the building along with on-site car and cycle parking.

There will also be the addition of balconies to the front of the building with an extension of the front block above the second floor to accommodate them.

The ground unit which used to contain the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant is not part of the redevelopment and will remain.

The majority of the offices in the building are already vacant with only an employment firm on the first floor.

The footpath alongside Grosvenor House has been closed for two weeks after a number of tiles fell from the top of the building into the alleyway.

Norwich City Council confirmed that their health and safety team and highways team were not involved with the closure of the alleyway.
