More access roads look set to be built from a new housing estate on the edge of Hunstanton onto the main A149.

Bennett Homes was given outline planning permission to build 120 new homes on the site off Cromer Road in September 2016. Its original scheme had a single access off the main road.

Now the company has applied to build three more access points. It says the proposed drives and proximity of house frontages to Cromer Road will “improve the sense of this being an urban street

as opposed to a highway”. It says this will make drivers slow down.

Hunstanton Town Council objected, calling for “a complete re-think” about access to the estate. It added: “We consider the three extra driveways to be unsafe.”

But highways officials have not objected. West Norfolk councillors have been recommended to agree the application when they meet on Monday.
