The owner of this farmhouse has lived in it almost all his life - but he and his wife have now decided to move, meaning the property as well as its land, gardens and commercial premises are up for sale for a guide price of £1 million with Brown & Co. People tend to move house more often these days but the owner of Home Farm has lived there almost all his life, moving in with his family aged just nine. His father bought the farm in 1946, coincidentally from Francis Hornor & Son, Peter Hornor's family and the forerunners to Brown & Co who are now selling it 72 years later.
The owner later bought the farmhouse off his father and has lived there happily with his wife since but as he told me, 'life moves on' and it's time to make that move while both are up for a new challenge! It means that a rare opportunity has come up to buy not only the farmhouse but also land at the rear of three acres and also an occupied barn conversion business park which currently generates just over £50,000 a year.
The farmhouse dates to the early 19th century, built of brick with a pitched roof and although is close to the A140, is actually very quiet inside. It offers three reception rooms; an inviting sitting room which leads to a formal dining room and study area with a modern kitchen divided cleverly into the cooking and the eating side.
