A derelict north Norfolk hotel and outbuildings could be demolished to make way for eight new homes on the site.

The proposed timber-framed houses would include three detached, one single-storey and four terraced.

The Overstrand Court Hotel site lies within a conservation area and the plans were lodged with North Norfolk District Council by the Estate of Mary Northway.

A heritage statement submitted with the plans states that the hotel is set back from the High Street within woodland.

The statement says that, although there is no direct evidence, it seems the original house was built in 1903/4 and known as Beckhythe House.

It was opened as a small hotel after the Second World War and was used most recently as bed and breakfast accommodation for people in receipt of council benefits. The house is in a very poor condition having been badly treated for the past 10 years or more, the statement says.
