Auction by William H Brown a big success

A successful auction by William H Brown saw some excellent results achieved.
Simon Arnes, William H Brown’s managing director and the auctioneer, reports on his firms’ sale held at Barnham Broom on Thursday.
“The sun was shining as the sale started and as usual, the room was busy and buzzing. It was clear that buyers had made their minds up which lots they were going to bid for and as you’ll see below, some excellent results were achieved. Below is a selection of some of the properties sold.
The sale started with Lot 1, 92 Armes Street, Norwich. A two bedroom, end town house. The guide here started at £115,000 with the gavel falling at £128,000.
Lot 5 was Flat 4, Landsdowne Road, Yaxley. A first floor purpose built two bedroom apartment. The guide here started at £90,000 and we had several interested buyers, including one on the phone. The gavel eventually fell at £103,000.
Lot 10, The Bungalow, School Road, Ludham. A detached 3 bedroom bungalow requiring some updating but in a good location. The guide here started at £180,000. There was very competitive bidding throughout with two fighting it out at the end with the gavel eventually falling at £235,000.
Lot 12, 4a Low Road, Hingham. A parcel of land with outbuildings requiring renovation. To use one of my favourite quotes ‘they’ve stopped making it!’. The guide here started at £25,000 and there was very competitive bidding from a number of prospective buyers, leaving two right until the end with the gavel eventually falling at £60,000.
Lot 15, Long Yard, 2 Union Road, Smallburgh. A mid-terrace one bedroom house in a good location. Again there had been good interest in this property. With the guide starting at £50,000, the gavel eventually fell at £81,500.
Lot 24, Heath Cottage, 42 Aylsham Road, Tuttington. A semi-detached two bedroom cottage requiring renovations throughout. This property is well situated and again, there had been good interest prior to the auction. The guide here started at £150,000. Two very serious buyers were determined to secure this property with the gavel eventually falling at £176,000.
Lot 36 was Land, Barns and Stables, adjoining Middle Road, Denton, Harleston. A commercial building, stables and land with lots of possibilities. The guide here started at £65,000 and we expected there to be strong interest in this property. This proved to be the case with five interested parties early on and two competing right to the end when the gavel eventually fell at £146,000.
Lot 37, 37 Maltward Avenue, Bury St Edmunds. A two bedroom semi-detached bungalow in a good location. The guide here started at £180,000 and again, there was good interest in this property with the gavel eventually falling at £210,000.
Lot 39, 15 George Street, Great Yarmouth. A bay fronted mid-terrace house with three bedrooms. The guide here started at £60,000 with the gavel falling at £88,000.
Lot 40, Oaks Bungalow, Redgrave Road, Blo Norton. A detached bungalow in a good location, requiring improvement with possible development opportunities subject to planning. The guide here started at £190,000. Again there had been strong interest in this property with several buyers in the room and the gavel eventually fell at £235,000.
Lot 41, 27 Olive Road, New Costessey. A two bedroom semi-detached bungalow requiring complete refurbishment throughout. The guide here started at £90,000. There were two strong buyers for this lot with the gavel eventually falling at £147,000.
Our final lot of the day was Lot 42, Dunroamin, Diss Road, Burston. A detached bungalow on a good plot and in a good location. Some modernisation required. The guide here started at £130,000. There were several interested parties and we pushed on to £200,000 leaving three bidders. The final two fought it out until the gavel eventually fell at £230,000.
