Wheatacre: White Lion
The menu is slightly-posh-pub, with locally sourced classics like Harleston beef and ale pie and Blythburgh free range pork, as well as whitebait, burgers and steaks. The fish offering looks particularly strong, with daily specials of fish grilled or battered, mussels and Scottish salmon among the choices.

Norwich: The Waffle House
The Waffle House seems to have become as much a part of the traditional fabric of Norwich culture as Colman's and Delia. And with not one but two fan groups dedicated to it on cyber-networking site Facebook the unassuming fronted eaterie is wearing its 30 years well.

Norwich: Frank's Bar
It's a great time to be a foodie in Norwich. Plenty of new restaurants have popped up in the city centre in the last few months. And one of the biggest success stories - if the difficulty in getting a table on certain nights of the week is anything to go by - is Frank's Bar.

Norwich: The Fountain Bar and Grill
A burger bar might seem an unusual choice for anyone indifferent to meat but The Fountain isn't any old burger bar and these aren't any old burgers.

Norwich: Artorio's
Artorio's has a kind of easy-listening approach to Mediterranean food - nothing too intimidating, blending Italian and Greek dishes with the occasional touch of Spain or Portugal.

The Lavender House in Brundall, owned by chef and EDP writer Richard Hughes, is now open for Sunday lunch. The menu changes weekly and the whole experience is billed as 'No carvery, no crayons, no queuing'.

Norwich: The Doghouse
The Doghouse repertoire consists of nothing but waffles (unless you count the snack options of nachos and chips), an interesting diversion from the bar food staples of lasagnes, scampi and burgers.

Brooke: King's Head
The team behind the ever popular Last Wine Bar in Norwich bought the place and decided to turn it into a gastro pub. IIt has been spruced up, with the usual wooden floors, bistro style table, benches, a long bar and various specials chalked up on boards.
