Grounds heads back to fill defensive gap
Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder yesterday backed returning Middlesbrough loan recruit Jonathan Grounds to solve his defensive headache. Grounds agreed a two-month emergency deal and goes straight into Roeder's depleted squad for the Championship trip to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Perception often different to reality
With the transfer window a mere eight days old, it is more meaningfully considered in a fortnight's time. Nonetheless, early signs are that those pundits predicting a damp squib in Championship outlay, rather than a rampant spending spree, are feeling just a little bit smug.

It's now just a matter of time for Roeder
We are in a right mess on and off the pitch. We are losing money hand over fist despite having massive crowds every week. Half our players are borrowed from other clubs, and we have no idea what the team is going to look like from week to week.
