RUGBY UNION: North Walsham Warriors' scheduled game on Saturday against Wattisham has been called off because of a flu epidemic at Wattisham.
North Walsham Vikings have asked members to dig deep after seeing their hopes for regional domination fall by the wayside, leaving a financial hole to fill.
North Walsham Vikings have a weekend off so the Scottow spotlight will fall on the club's second string, the Raiders. Mainly due to a long string of injuries, particularly to front and second row players, the side's season has never really got going.
Hertford 14, North Walsham 6: North Walsham lost key player Chris Godwin with a broken leg as they slipped to a narrow defeat at Hertford on Saturday. The open side flanker, named Walsham's player of the season for 2008-9, underwent an operation at a local hospital after being trapped under a pile of bodies during a battle for possession.
Norwich 7, Enfield Ignatians 14: This was a game Norwich were expecting to win against a side placed just below them in the league - but that's not the way it turned out.
Wymondham 5, Upminster 0: Storm force winds and driving rain welcomed both teams on to the pitch at Tuttles Lane, making this a war of attrition rather than a spectacle of rugby, with Wymondham deservedly scraping home thanks to a Mike Rout try in the second half.
Lowestoft & Yarmouth 15, Dagenham 0: In swirling gale force winds and driving rain Lowestoft and Yarmouth moved up to fourth place in the league - just two points behind leaders Beccles - as they maintained their excellent home record with a well deserved but hard-fought win.
West Norfolk 15, Basildon 19: West Norfolk fielded a much changed side through injuries and unavailability and were unlucky to lose in the last five minutes, as they played the more constructive rugby.
Canvey Island 20, Beccles 17: Beccles travelled to fellow pace- setters Canvey Island and just fell short of victory. Despite the loss they are still top of the Division 3NE table - but now only on points difference.
Dorking 17, Diss 0: The wind was blowing sideways and the rain was following as the players and hardy band of supporters left Diss for the journey down to Dorking - and the conditions did not improve until just before kick-off.
